Many features of a Rule Application are applicable both to the InRule rules engine and to InRule for JavaScript. The irX for JavaScript extension allows you to select which platform(s) a particular Rule Application will run on.
Click the Target Platforms button on the JavaScript ribbon. In the window that appears, select InRule, JavaScript, or All Platforms.
While you are authoring your Rule Application, the target platform will be shown in the footer of the irAuthor window.
All Platforms
If you select all target platforms, only those features that are applicable to both platforms will be available.
InRule
If you select InRule as a target platform, features which are only available for JavaScript will not be shown. For example, you cannot use the Execute JavaScript Function action in a Rule Application with an InRule target platform.
JavaScript
If you select JavaScript as a target platform, some InRule features will not be available. For a full list of what InRule features are supported in JavaScript, see Supported InRule Features.
Note: There are multiple places in the rule lifecycle where these supported features will be validated. Validating, testing and packaging your Rule Application are all places where errors will be displayed if you are using an unsupported feature that is not available in JavaScript.
Note: If you select both the InRule and JavaScript target platforms, only those features that are applicable to both platforms will be available.
