IPA supports two modeling tools, referred to as BPMN 1.0 and BPMN 2.0. BPMN 2.0 was deployed in 2014 and is the de facto modeling tool in IPA. BPMN 1.0 is an earlier version; a limited set of applications still use this modeler.
Because of security and stability reasons, InRule is taking BPMN 1.0 out of support and announcing its end of life on the 1st of June 2026. The codebase for BPMN 1.0 contains components that are not supported by modern browsers, and in order to keep up with the maintenance of the process engine, we will no longer support the usage of BPMN 1.0.
What happens now?
We will work with the customers who are still using BPMN 1.0 to upgrade them to BPMN 2.0.
What happens on June 1st, 2026?
We will no longer support instances running on BPMN 1.0 models. Over time, as we upgrade and maintain IPA, certain functions will be removed, which will cause instances to stop.
