The Data page in Author Studio is where you can find and create Data objects associated with your Rule Application.

Navigating to the Data page

Select a rule application from the Rule Application list. Then select the Data tab in the menu on the left side.

Add an Inline Value List

This section explains how to use Inline Value Lists in Author Studio. If you are new to the concept of Inline Value Lists, you can read more about them in the article Data.

From the Data page, click on New Data Element

1. Import

Click on Import and select a CSV file to populate the data in the list. 

2. Export 

Click on Export to save the data in the list as a CSV file.

3. Save
You need to save any changes made to the list. 

4. Name

This is where the name of the Inline Value List is saved, you can edit it by clicking on it. 

5. Add a Row

Click here to add a row to the list. 

6. Inline Value List 

You can add and edit the Values and Display Names in this list by clicking on the cells.

7. Delete
Once you click on one of the rows, you will see the trashcan icon. Click on this to delete the row. 

8. Move row up and Move row down 

Once you click on one of the rows, you will see these arrows. Use the arrows to move the row up and down. 

Add an Inline Table

This section explains how to use Inline Tables in Author Studio. If you are new to the concept of Inline Tables, you can read more about them in the article Data.

From the Data page, click on New Data Element

1. Import

Click on Import and select a CSV file to populate the data in the table. 

2. Export 

Click on Export to save the data in the table as a CSV file.

3. Save
You need to save any changes made to the table. 

4. Name

This is where the name of the table is saved, you can edit it by clicking on it. 

5. Add a Row

Click here to add a row to the table. 

6. Inline Table 

You can add and edit the information in the table by clicking on the cells.

7. Edit Column

Click on the pencil icon to edit the column.

Once the header of the column is grey, you can

  • Change the name of the column
  • Choose a column type from the drop-down
  • Or delete the column

8. Delete
Click on the row you would like to delete, you will see the trashcan icon appear at the end of the row on the right side. Click on the trashcan icon to delete the row. 

9. Move row up and Move row down 

Click on the row you would like to delete and the arrows will appear on the right side of the table. Use the arrows to move the row up and down. 

Validation 

The table will tell you if the type of column you are trying to add is incorrect. At the bottom of the table, you can see a list of validation errors in the table. This only appears if there are errors in the table.
